While selecting the blower you need to understand the various models of blowers available in the market. Few important choices to consider are cordless, corded electric, and gas models. The gas models include hand-held, backpack, and large wheeled or walk-behind units. And then there are combination models such as vacuum, blower and shredder. Till date electric blowers continue to be most popular with homeowners. The advantage of electric blowers is that they are lighter weight, less noisy and less costly.

There are few important aspects that you need to understand before making your choice about the right blower. The first aspect is the size of your yard. If your yard is very small and you simply need to clear light leaves and debris, a cordless unit or small electric model may do the job. If your yard large, you may need a corded electric or small gas blower.

A blower is application specific and hence you need to decide first on what you need to blow with that. The right blower for your yard depends partly on the type and amount of leaves, needles, cones, and other debris you need to remove. A few small, light leaves can be moved easily with a handheld cordless unit.

An important aspect is the power mode you want to select from cordless, corded electric, and gas. A cordless blower is portable, but lacks power than a corded electric or gas blower but at the same time easy to use. Corded blowers are limited to a range or say 150 feet, and less than 100 feet is better, from a power source. The cord should be kept out of the way of your blowing path and of your feet. It is always better to go in for a multifunction model as it helps you in various tasks.
